Here’s why…
On September 26, 2023, I became a licensed Realtor® with Silvercreek Realty Group, and have branded my business as Chukar Hills Realty! With my recent training I will be able to assist you, your friends, and your family with all their real estate needs.
Along with my training, I also have the support of Silvercreek Realty Group, the largest brokerage in the state. We sell properties throughout Idaho, with agents located all over the state. While I’ll be focusing on buying and selling property in chukar country (rural western Idaho), my familiarity with the Treasure Valley (from living there for 13 years), family in McCall, a cabin in Island Park (my dad built it in 1973), and extensive recreational experience throughout the state (skiing, fishing, hunting, camping, backpacking, motorcycling, and bike racing), gives me a broad base to work from throughout Idaho, with extensive support from the Silvercreek network. This company, whose agents sell thousands of properties each year here, is locally grown and not a franchise from out of state. Through the MLS we have the power to syndicate our listings everywhere online.
If you know me, you might wonder why I decided to get into this highly competitive business. Honestly, I’ve been very interested in real estate since buying my first house in 2001. The realtor I lucked into, a legend in Boise named Horace Smith, was amazing. Patient, smart, experienced, great company, and very generous with his time. After looking at lots of duds, he kindly guided me into the perfect starter home, and after closing he came by the house when I was unpacking to see how things were going. “Hmm, you need some things,” he said. “Get in my truck.” A couple hours later we left Home Depot with about $1000 worth of tools, lumber, spackle, paint, and even storage cabinets for the garage. He wouldn’t let me pay for any of it. He spent the next several days teaching me how to fix dings in the drywall, use power tools, build a workbench, install cabinets, and lots of other things. He must have been at least 70. I knew he was special but didn’t understand why me. When I’d ask, he’d just say, “You’re young and on your own, and I admire what you’re doing, so I want to help you out.” I’ve bought and sold a bunch of houses since then and have never run into anyone quite like him, but I want to do what I can to try to be like him for my clients. We’ve all heard the cliché “Pay it forward”; as teaching was for me earlier, this is another chance. They don’t come along that often, and we need to take them.
Horace piqued my interest in real estate, but the reason I decided to get my license is because of a close friend, who happens to be a Realtor®, also with Silvercreek. Nick Petitmermet reminds me in many ways of Horace Smith. He encouraged me to try this and has kindly offered to mentor me as a new agent. His 19 years of experience in the field and expert knowledge of property in chukar country and beyond will make him a valuable resource for me in the office he runs in Cambridge, which I’ll be sharing with him. I’m very excited about this opportunity. Life is good. So, I would love the opportunity to take care of all your current and future real estate needs. Stay tuned for more market information and tips on great local deals. Thank you!
